Sale price$6,750.00

William C. Andrus for Steelcase, lounge chair, lacquered fiberglass, plexiglass, leather, United States, 1970s

Lovely space age easy chair designed by William C. Andrus for Steelcase in the 1970s. This design truly resembles the ethos of the seventies, featuring the commonly used material of that time named fiberglass and plexiglass in combination with black leather upholstery. The body rests on a transparent lucite base which creates the illusion that the chair is floating. This piece of furniture was part of the '465' series for the Soft Seating program in 1972. William C. Andrus created this particular appearance not only with modern materials, but also the sheer form with its round edges and the floating base makes this sofa and lounge chair a design statement.

Kindly note that this item is in good, used condition. The leather is worn and exhibits minor holes. The fiberglass contains some stains. The plexiglass has scratching. Reupholstery or restoration can be done before shipping by our experienced craftspeople in our own in-house restoration atelier. With high attention for the original, they make sure every piece retains its value and is ready for the many years to come. We kindly ask you to contact our design experts for further information about the endless possibilities our restoration and upholstery atelier has to offer. Of course, a locally organized reupholstery or restoration is possible as well.
