Vico Magistretti 'Carimate' Bench in Red Stained Wood and Straw

Sale price$3,950.00

Vico Magistretti, ‘Carimate’ bench stained beech, straw, Italy, design 1963

This bench belongs to the 'Carimate' line, one of Vico Magistretti’s most well-known furniture series. Chairs within this line were originally created in 1959 for the clubhouse of the Carimate Golf Club near Como, Italy, a building also designed by Magistretti.

The chairs were specifically designed for the restaurant, made of red aniline-dyed wood and straw, embracing a rustic flavor. Magistretti focused on small yet significant details, such as the anatomical curvature of the backrest and the attachment of the seat to the legs. The present bench has a woven straw seat with a red stained wooden beech framework.
