A Dutch settee designed by Theo Ruth in a romantic floral print fabric . This 'Congo' sofa's design, as well as the chairs of this serie, is based on an African chair that he brought home as a souvenir. The sofa has as a type of scissors-construction since the seat fits neatly slides into the back. The sofa is playful, functional and comfortable. Minimalistic, comfortable Dutch design.
Theo Ruth (1915-) could be seen as the Pioneer of the designs of Artifort. In 1936 he joined the company, first as cabinetmaker, later in 1939 as head of the design and development department. The Congo chair is his best known design and was great sales success for Artifort. Please be aware that this sofa needs reupholstery. Ask for more information about the options that our in-house upholstery studio can offer you.
