Sculptural Side Chair with Woven Leather Seat
Side chair, leather and hardwood, United States, 1950s
This American handcrafted chair is as sculptural as it can get. A combination of sturdy shapes and elegant, slender lines is well-considered. The walnut frame consists of a subtle curved backrest that is connected in an inventive to a slat between the legs in the back. The seat consists of angular shapes to keep the woven leather seat in its place. The cylindrical shaped legs are tapered and the legs in the back also slightly tilted.
