Rodolfo Bonetto and Giotto Stoppino for Tarlisio, pair of 'Bossa' lounge chairs, fiberglass, corduroy velvet, Italy, 1968
These rare Bossa lounge chairs (1968), born from the collaboration between Rodolfo Bonetto and Giotto Stoppino, embody the experimental spirit of late 1960s design. Their form is defined by a low, sculptural silhouette, where a continuous, off-white fiberglass shell wraps around the base and sides in a smooth, flowing curve. The shell rises gently at the back to create an integrated backrest, giving the chairs a cocoon-like, grounded presence.
Nestled within this rigid outer frame are generously proportioned cushions upholstered in brown corduroy velvet. Together, their compact, low-slung geometry and enveloping shape perfectly capture the innovative and unconventional approach of late 1960s-1970s furniture design.
