Mario Bellini for Cassina, 'Le Mura' king bed, corduroy "Phlox" by Raf Simons x Kvadrat, chrome-plated steel, Italy, 1972

The 'Le Mura' line by Mario Bellini was introduced in 1972 and had a short production run, meaning a limited amount of furniture items within this collection were produced. The term "Le Mura" translates to "the walls", Bellini was influenced by the massive city walls of ancient civilizations, composed of large square stones. The essence of Le Mura is embodied in its name: characterized by bold and bulky shapes with a plain appearance. The noticeable chrome hinges are a significant detail that add a final touch to the design. This bed features two individual beds that can also be used as daybeds if desired. The upholstery features a soft corduroy fabric in a vibrant green color by Raf Simons x Kvadrat. The bed captures the redefinition of leisure in the 1970s, which was driven by the desire for a playful and relaxed environment. Le Mura has become a modern classic.
