Rare Brazilian sideboard by Martin Eisler for Forma. This refined piece is composed of two distinct compartments, thoughtfully arranged in a balanced architectural composition. At the base, a spacious cabinet features four sliding doors, each decorated with an elegant seagrass grid and operated by sculptural leather handles. The interior is fitted with practical drawers and shelves, offering generous and well-organized storage.

Resting above, slender circular brass supports elevate a vitrine with glass doors, creating a sense of lightness and visual contrast. The upper cabinet is illuminated by a discreetly integrated fluorescent tube, subtly highlighting the contents within. The clear division between the two elements enhances the symmetry of the design, while the left section of the vitrine introduces a subtle tension, with white interior walls contrasting against the natural wood tone.

The rich walnut, combined with the bright seagrass, warm brass accents, and transparent glass doors, creates a sophisticated interplay of textures and materials that is both harmonious and visually captivating.

Along with many of the most important Brazilian designers, Martin Eisler (1913-1977) was educated in Europe. He studied architecture in Austria and moved to Buenos Aires in 1938. In the same year, he founded an architecture firm and organised an exhibition of his furniture. From 1952 onwards he stayed in Sao Paulo where he worked with Carlo Hauner and Ernesto Wolf to found Móveis Artesenal in 1955 which would later become Forma.
