Preben Fabricius & Jørgen Kastholm for Kill International Table in Walnut
Preben Fabricius & Jørgen Kastholm for Kill International, walnut, metal, Denmark, 1970s
This rare dining or conference table is designed by Preben Fabricius & Jørgen Kastholm for Kill International in the seventies. The thick oval-shaped top in walnut features expressive grains which contrasts with the open, minimalist construction of the base. Outward-facing feet support the top and are interconnected via a horizontal wooden beam. This design bears witness to the duo's radical approach towards designing furniture.
Preben Juhl Fabricius (1931-1984) and Jørgen Kastholm (1931-2007) became friends in the 1950s at the School of Interior Design. In the 1960s they started a collaboration. Although they have worked also individually, it is as a duo that they have achieved their greatest success. During the eight years of partnership, they managed to create a wide selection of very high-quality designs. The results were often minimalistic and functional designs in steel, glass and leather. Most of the furniture of the Danish designer duo was produced by the German manufacturer Kill International.
