Martin Visser for 't Spectrum Pair of Armchairs in Patinated Cognac Leather
Martin Visser for 't Spectrum Bergeijk, pair of lounge chairs model 'SZ 02', leather, brushed steel, The Netherlands, 1965
These modern, Minimalist easy chairs are made of a tubular brushed steel in combination with soft, patinated cognac leather upholstery. The armrests are covered in cognac leather to support and provide the needing comfort and also give the design more strength. Very minimal stitching is used to cover the steel frame. Laces are used to hold the leather together. A buckle is visible on the back of the chair which emphasizes the clean and sturdy character of this chair. The chairs are beautifully aged as only happens after years of regular use. The leather upholstery is in rich patinated condition, with dark stains and discoloration all-over. The leather is stretched, especially at the front of the seat and at the top of the backrest.
