Round coffee table in black coated metal and glass. This table is a variation on Janni Van Pelt's coffee table model G4. The base consists of four legs with a cross-connection. Janni van Pelt (1931 -) is a Dutch furniture designer and interior designer who is known for her functional yet aesthetic designs. After World War II, Van Pelt attended the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague where she graduated in Interior Design. Here Van Pelt met her later husband and designer Dick Brouwers. In 1953, Van Pelt and Brouwers started working for ‘My Home woninginrichting’ in Amsterdam; the company of Van Pelt's father and well-known designer Bas van Pelt (1900-1945) who had passed away in a concentration camp near Hamburg. As a tribute to her father, the name of the company changed in 1957 to ‘Bas van Pelt Binnenhuisarchitectuur’. The company flourished during the postwar period, and as a result a new store opened in The Hague during the early sixties. Aware of the innovative designs of their time, a refined collection of prominent modest Northern European furniture pieces was shown at the company's stores, including designs by Janni van Pelt herself. Today, Van Pelt's well-known coffee tables and dining sets are desired furniture pieces due to their timeless designs.
Please note that this table is in good, used condition. There are some imperfections in the black lacquer and some scratches on the glass. For further details, we encourage you to reach out to our team of design specialists.
