This rare set of eight dining chairs by Jacob Kjær beautifully embodies the refined character of Danish design from the 1930s. The generous seats and rectangular backrests are upholstered in original cognac leather, displaying a rich and beautifully aged patina. Jacob Kjaer (1896-1957) started working as a furniture designer in 1915. Between 1918 and 1920, he studied at the Institute of Arts and Crafts Museum in Berlin, then worked in Paris and returned to Copenhagen in 1926. Here, he opened his own workshop. His highly skilled craftsmanship and designs got honored with the Hand Work Medal in 1954.
