The desk strongly recalls the work of Ico and Luisa Parisi in the way it transforms traditional cabinetmaking into something far more fluid, expressive and sculptural. Their furniture of the late 1940s and 1950s often moved beyond straightforward functional construction, favoring elegant, animated lines, tapered supports and an almost calligraphic handling of wood. The framework of this desk has a similar quality: long, sweeping members curve across the width of the desk, crossing and converging towards the centre before extending outward again in a fluid, continuous movement.
