Handmade Pia Manu Coffee Table in Pink Quartz

Sale price$33,000.00

Pia Manu, coffee table, metal, quartz, Belgium, 1965.

This unique, hand made piece is designed in the workshop of Pia Manu. Due to the artistic use of materials and texture combinations, the coffee table has a strong decorative character and hits the border between piece of art and furniture design. The surface of the top is artistically fragmented illustrating differently sized quartz stones adding a haptic and graphical visualization to the design. The metal frame is structured in a horizontal manner, leaving minor space between the thin slats. The base is architecturally shaped epitomizing a column of six tubes resting on a flat base and arranged with space between them. The massive look of the top beautifully contrasts with the open and clean layout of the base. Along the border, is a small ceramic stamp that shows 'Pia Manu'.

Pia Manu is a workshop from Ingelmunster, Belgium. Here, amongst others, Jules Dewaele and his son Koen Dewaele designed several design pieces during the 60s. Pia Manu is still working along similar lines, with natural materials such as stone and travertine combined with ceramics. The ceramic tables are commonly known and these are bought at Amphora.
