Giordano Righini Mid-Century Large Dining Set in Carved Meranti

Sale price$47,500.00

Giordano Righini dining table and ten stools, solid meranti wood, Italy, 1950s

This beautiful dining set by Giordano Righini comprises a generously proportioned table and ten matching stools. The elongated tabletop displays the rich grain and warm reddish brown tones of the meranti wood, supported by substantial square legs and low stretchers. Carved triangles and diamonds decorate the legs and stretchers, their dark recessed surfaces creating a distinctive geometric rhythm. Each stool has a square seat with a central opening, complementing the table’s architectural lines.

Designed for Righini’s private residence in Italy, the ensemble balances sturdy proportions with intricate ornament and the natural warmth of the wood.

Giordano Righini (1930–2020) was an Italian mosaic artist, painter and sculptor. Trained in Spilimbergo and at Turin’s Accademia Albertina, he collaborated with Felice Casorati on mosaics for San Domenico in Cagliari in 1952.

Major works include mosaics for the Sanctuary of Santa Rita in Roccaporena di Cascia and Madonna degli Angeli in Turin, a panel for San Giovanni Hospital, and carved wooden altarpieces for the Collegio La Madonna in Mondovì. He participated in the 1966 Venice Biennale with three dimensional mosaics and exhibited internationally.
