This extraordinary chair, named the ‘Joe Seat,’ was created as a tribute to legendary baseball champion Joe DiMaggio. Designed in 1970 by Italian architects Jonathan de Pas, Donato D’Urbino, and Paolo Lomazzi, the oversized chair has since become a true design icon. Now part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, its playful form is considered a cult classic. This chair is an example from the early production run.

Inspired by the shape of a baseball glove, the chair features characteristic leather lacing and a leather web between the thumb and index finger, making the resemblance unmistakable. Beyond its distinctive appearance, the Joe Seat is also remarkably comfortable, thanks to its firm cushioning and soft cognac leather upholstery.
