Fratelli Barni Mobili d'Arte Seveso Art Deco Bar Cabinet in Cherry Brass and Glass
Fratelli Barni Mobili d'Arte Seveso, cabinet, cherry, mirrored glass, brass, glass, Seveso, Milan, Italy, 1940s
This extremely elegant Italian bar cabinet features decorative wooden elements that form an intricate geometric pattern across the doors, continuing around the cabinet’s rounded corners. The rich cherry grain adds warmth, while a carved apron with flowing foliage brings an ornamental touch to the geometric exterior.
The doors open to reveal an illuminated mirrored interior with a fine square grid. A glass shelf and additional door shelves with slender brass rails provide space for bottles and glassware. Two drawers with finely ridged fronts complete this thoughtfully fitted bar cabinet.
Fratelli Barni Mobili d'Arte was a furniture manufacturer based in Seveso, in the Brianza furniture-making district north of Milan. Active by the second half of the 20th century, the company maintained a showroom at Via dei Giardini 3 in Milan. Its production ranged from traditionally inspired mobili in stile to more streamlined furniture reflecting developments in post-war Italian design. Like many specialist workshops in Brianza, Fratelli Barni also executed furniture conceived by outside architects and designers. Among the firm's documented associations is Paolo Buffa
