Early and Unique Giuseppe Rivadossi Sideboard in Carved Oak and Blue Glass

Giuseppe Rivadossi, sideboard, oak, blue glass, Italy, 1960s

This exceptional sideboard by Giuseppe Rivadossi features an unusual angled form and a deeply carved oak facade. A continuous grid of faceted squares conceals drawers and cabinet doors, each square centred with a blue glass insert. Fine carved grooves accentuate the relief, creating a rich interplay of texture, light and shadow. The warm oak and dark blue glass give this architectural piece a distinctive, refined character.

Giuseppe Rivadossi (1935) was born in Monteclana di Nave, Italy, where he still lives and works. At a young age, Rivadossi's path begins with wood carving, with works reflecting on his poetic idea of living. In 1962 Rivadossi took over the carpentry founded in 1920 by his father Clemente, which he transformed into an atelier, or rather a creative workshop. Eventually, Rivadossi and collaborators established 'Officina Rivadossi' in 1976 where he started the manufacture of wooden objects and unique modern furniture.
