Tearsheet
Lounge chair, solid oak, rope, brass, fabric, the Netherlands, 1920s/30s

This Dutch armchair from the 1930s reflects the restrained yet expressive character of the Hague School tradition. The frame, made of solid oak, reveals a structural honesty typical of this movement, emphasizing craftsmanship and the natural qualities of the material. The design is defined by its clear geometry: the legs taper slightly toward the floor culminating in smaller feet, giving the chair a firm and grounded stance. Both the seat and back cushions are covered in a floral-patterned fabric, secured with a brass nail rim that outlines the seat’s perimeter. The backrest develops in pointy corners, and is distinguished by a series of laces that fasten the cushion to the frame. A chair that exudes both poise and personality, perfect for elevating your interior décor.
