Art Deco Pair of Lounge Chairs in Olive Green Velvet

Sale price$8,450.00

Pair of armchairs, velvet, wood, Europe, 1940s

The defining feature of these 1940s Art Deco armchairs are their boldly arched side panels, which sweep upward in a graceful, convex curve, terminating just below the gently sloping backrest. Extending vertically from the base to the armrests, the chairs’ front legs establish a grounded stance. The upholstery, in a muted olive green velvet, lends a subtle yet rich texture that softens the rigid geometry of the chairs' overall form. Rows of small, fabric-covered buttons punctuate the front panels of the seats. Altogether, these chairs embody the refined modernism characteristic of the Art Deco period.

Please note that we advise reupholstery before use. This item contains threadbare upholstery with loose seams and small stains. Reupholstery can be done before shipping by our experienced craftspeople in our own in-house restoration atelier. With high attention for the original, they make sure every piece contains its value and is ready for the many years to come. We kindly ask you to contact our design experts for further information about the endless possibilities our restoration and upholstery atelier has to offer. Of course, a locally organized reupholstery is possible as well.
