Arne Vodder for Sibast Møbler, set of four dining chairs, model '418', walnut, fabric, Denmark, 1960s
Armchairs designed by Arne Vodder for Sibast, featuring characteristic sculptural frames crafted in warm walnut. The slightly tapered legs with rounded ends lend the chairs a sturdy, grounded presence. The seats are upholstered in grey fabric, enhancing their modest and serene appearance. Striking in their simplicity, these armchairs reveal a high level of craftsmanship, evident in the careful construction and finely executed wood joints.
Arne Vodder (1926-2009) should be named among the most influential Scandinavian Midcentury designers, although he is not as well-known as for instance Hans Wegner or Arne Jacobson. Once a student of famous furniture designer Finn Juhl at Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, who later became his friend and business partner. Vodder started out as an architect who designed low-cost housing, later on, he began designing furniture. Although his designs are anything but low-quality, his aim for functional design that could be used by all remained important. He designed amongst others for Fritz Hansen & Sibast.
Please note that the fabric is in good, used condition with signs of age and use. For further details, we encourage you to reach out to our team of design specialists.
