Arne Norell ‘Merkur’ Lounge Chair in Brown Leather
Arne Norell for Arne Norell Möbel AB, sofa model ‘Merkur’, leather, wood, Sweden, 1970s.
This high-quality sofa is designed by the talented Swedish designer Arne Norell. Characteristic for this model are the low positioned armrests and the thickness of the cushions, which contribute to a sturdy and bulky appearance. The designer decided to stay modest with decoration by implementing tufted buttons on the seat, which add a grandiose look to the sofa. The body is upholstered in brown leather that developed patina over the years. The wooden base beautifully runs around the sofa, adding extra solidness to the overall design. The sofa does not only look eccentric, but is undoubtedly comfortable to sit in.
Please note that the item is in used condition. The leather shows patina and some damages. Reupholstery is possible before shipping by our experienced craftsman in our own in-house restoration atelier. With high attention for the original, they make sure every piece retains its value and is ready for the many years to come. We kindly ask you to contact our design experts for further information about the endless possibilities our restoration and upholstery atelier has to offer. Of course, a locally organized reupholstery is possible as well.
