Adrian Pearsall ‘Platform’ Curved Sofa in Walnut and Butter Yellow Upholstery

Sale price$27,400.00

Adrian Pearsall for Craft Associates, ‘platform’ curved sofa, fabric, walnut, United States, 1960s

This beautifully shaped sofa designed by Adrian Pearsall is characterized by a solid construction, featuring clear lines and a striking curved shape. The sofa rests on a wooden platform executed in walnut that creates a floating appearance, and together with the elongated curved shape of the seating, brings a more open and inviting look to the quite solid design. Adrian Pearsall was more often inspired by boats for his designs, which makes it no surprise that he pursued a career in yachts after he left the design world in the 1970s.

Adrian Pearsall (1925-2011), trained as an architectural engineer, was a sailor and interior designer. In 1952, Pearsall opened his own furniture company ‘Craft Associates’. Pearsall designed some of the most sensuous, gracious midcentury design pieces around, sharing many of the design aesthetics by Vladimir Kagan. His pieces are characterized by flamboyant curves, upswept shapes and stretched proportions.

Kindly note that this sofa is reupholstered and restored in our in-house atelier and is perfectly ready to enjoy for many years.
