Tearsheet
Sideboard, solid oak, lacquered oak, the Netherlands, 1950s

This 1950s Dutch sideboard is a beautiful example of post-war modernism, combining functional clarity with subtle decorative detail. Crafted in solid oak, the piece is defined by its clean, rectilinear silhouette, elevated on dark, angular legs that give it a light, architectural presence.

The façade is organized into a composition of storage elements. On one side, a combination of drawers and a drop-down leaf, while the central section is enclosed by two paneled doors. These doors are accented with small diamond-shaped inlays, introducing a restrained geometric ornament that punctuates the otherwise restrained design. Its quality is underscored by fine craftsmanship, visible in the precise construction, thoughtful detailing, and the beautifully worked solid oak.
