Pair of lounge chairs, faux suede, stained beech, France, 1930s

This pair of lounge chairs, produced in France in the 1930s, exemplifies the refined language of Art Deco design. The armrests trace a continuous, gently curved line, with the wooden frame developing in a smooth progression from front to back. The softly rounded backrest echoes this gesture, creating a harmonious whole.

The chairs are upholstered in softly textured faux suede in a light beige to cream tone, which, in combination with the dark wood, imparts a quiet sense of luxury. Through their combination of graceful lines and absence of applied ornament, the chairs embody the restrained elegance characteristic of French furniture of the 1930s.

Kindly note that the fabric is in good, used condition with signs of age and use. Reupholstery is possible before shipping by our experienced craftspeople in our own in-house restoration atelier. With high attention for the original, they make sure every piece retains its value and is ready for the many years to come. We kindly ask you to contact our design experts for further information about the endless possibilities our restoration and upholstery atelier has to offer. Of course, a locally organized reupholstery is possible as well.
