TON Mid-Century Modern Lounge Chair with Sculptural Frame in Red Upholstery

Sale price£1,155.54

Magda Sépová for TON, lounge chair, fiberglass, fabric, coated steel, Czechoslovakia, 1962

This armchair by Magda Sépová embraces the aesthetic sensibility that prevailed in the 1950s and 1960s. The corpus embodies a dynamic appearance that, for instance, comes forward in the curved shaped armrests. All the edges in the seat have round finishing, which makes the overall appearance very soft and blends all the outlines together. The chair is raised from the ground through an open black coated steel framework comprised of tubular rods placed diagonally. Cross-connections add a touch of dimensionality and provide stability. The red color adds more visual interest to the otherwise simplistic character of the chair.

Please note that the fabric is in used condition with traces of age and use. Reupholstery can be done before shipping by our experienced craftsmen and -women in our own in-house restoration atelier. With high attention for the original, they make sure every piece retains its value and is ready for the many years to come. We kindly ask you to contact our design experts for further information about the endless possibilities our restoration and upholstery atelier has to offer. Of course, a locally organized reupholstery is possible as well.
