Superstudio, dining table 'Teso', glass, lacquered ash, steel, Italy, 1970s

A remarkable table designed by the Italian architecture and design group Superstudio, established in 1966 by Adolfo Natalini and Cristiano Toraldo di Francia. This rectangular table features a transparent glass top, providing a clear view of its unique frame from every angle. The frame comprises four robust tubular legs crafted from black lacquered ash, reinforced with intersecting steel wires. This design choice not only offers sturdy support but also underlines its striking interplay of space and volume.

Superstudio was set up in 1966 in Florence by Adolfo Natalini and Cristiano Toraldo di Francia. One of Italy's first anti-design groups as a result of the counter-culture. Their anti-architectural proposals used monochrome grid systems as a way to mediate and give equality to space. It was also frequently used in their furniture designs through the use of small white glazed tiles.

Kindly note that the table is in good, used condition. The glass exhibits some minor scratching and the wooden frame contains wear. For further details, we encourage you to reach out to our team of design specialists.
