Italian 1930s Floor Lamp with Scalloped Brass Shades

This floor lamp captures an important aspect of the Italian design ethos of the 1930s: a search for modernity that remained closely connected to elegance, material richness and artisanal detail. Its slender brass structure rises from a substantial glass base, while four conical shades are arranged around the upper stem in a carefully balanced composition. The softly flared shades are finished with delicate scalloped rims, a small ornamental gesture that gives the lamp much of its charm and character. Their adjustable construction allows each shade to be directed individually, casting light in different directions. Over time, the brass has developed a warm, rich patina. The design recalls the work of the acclaimed Italian lighting company Fontana Arte.
