Giovanni Carini for Planula Set of Twelve 'Libellula' Dining Chairs in Canvas

Sale price£10,794.84

Giovanni Carini for Planula, set of twelve 'Libellula' dining chairs, canvas, lacquered steel, steel, Italy, ca. 1969

Giovanni Carini’s Libellula chairs for Planula are made from slender white-lacquered steel tubing, the fourteen chairs have beige canvas seats and backs stretched across the frame. The canvas is tensioned and joined with small steel spiral fastenings. Rather than concealing the construction, Carini makes it visible, turning a practical solution into part of the chair’s graphic identity. “Le Celle” is written across the backrests, referring to their provenance from a villa in Celle, near Florence.

Their stackable construction reinforces this sense of economy: little material, little visual weight, and a clear emphasis on function.

Kindly note that the chairs are in good, used condition with signs of age and use.
