Folke Ohlsson for Dux of Sweden, lounge chair, model 'Profil', leather, teak, Sweden, 1957

Designed by Folke Ohlsson for DUX of Sweden, the Profil lounge chair was presented in DUX’s 1957 catalogue as part of a new line of generously upholstered seating intended for more relaxed living environments. At the 1957 Swedish Furniture Fair, the model was selected for exhibition at Nordiska Galleriet, suggesting that it was regarded early on as representative of contemporary Swedish furniture culture.

The design combines a sculptural teak frame with a heavily upholstered body in brown leather. The exposed wooden base, with its slightly tapered legs and angular side supports, recalls earlier Scandinavian cabinetmaking traditions, while the floating seat and reclining posture point toward a more international mid-century vocabulary.

Today, the Profil remains one of Ohlsson’s more recognizable seating designs and can be situated within a broader movement of Scandinavian lounge furniture that emphasized humane scale, visible craftsmanship, and understated modernity.

Kindly note that the piece is in good, used condition with some signs of age and use.
