Tearsheet
Armchair, ash, cane, the Netherlands, 1940s.

Exemplary of the 1930s–1940s period, this Dutch armchair is reminiscent of the work of Bas van Pelt and H. Pander & Zonen. It features a warm ash wood frame with a stately high backrest in woven cane that complements the wood beautifully. Two pointed, carved “ears” adorn the backrest and, together with the curved armrests, define the design’s distinctive character.
