Easy chair, fabric, walnut, Denmark, 1950s

A highly comfortable lounge chair from 1950s Denmark. The backrest rises high and curves outward in a wing-like gesture, a form that both frames the sitter and provides a sense of enclosure. The curve here is softened, continuous, and organic. The arms flow in a gentle wave, extending naturally from the backrest before turning downward, which creates a sense of movement and softness. The seat is broad and low, emphasizing relaxation. The legs are short, slightly tapered walnut feet. Their solidity grounds the otherwise rounded and enveloping body, providing contrast between the warm wood and the bold red textile.

Please note that we advise reupholstery for this chair. This can be done before shipping by our experienced craftspeople in our own in-house restoration atelier. Of course, a locally organized reupholstery is possible as well. Kindly reach out to our design specialists for more information.
