Lounge chair, solid oak, suede, Spain, 1960s

This chair is a Spanish lounge chair from the 1960s, designed in a Brutalist spirit. Its form is bold and architectural, prioritizing mass, structure, and the expressive qualities of solid wood. The frame is built from heavy sections of oak, squared and uncompromising in their presence. The legs are straight and block-like, creating a strong vertical rhythm. The backrest is constructed from thick vertical slats, slightly inclined to provide comfort within the otherwise rigid structure. The most distinctive element is the armrest: wide planks of oak, carved into a shallow curve, resting heavily on the frame. This sculptural gesture introduces a tactile quality to an otherwise austere form. The seat cushion, upholstered in warm ochre suede, provides the only softness within the design. Its square, geometric shape aligns with the rectilinear logic of the frame, while the warm tone of the leather contrasts with the dark oak.

Kindly note that the suede contains some spots. For further details, we encourage you to reach out to our team of design specialists.
