Arne Vodder for Vamo Møbelfabrik Pair of Armchairs in Teak and Green Fabric

Sale price£1,433.84

Arne Vodder for Vamo Møbelfabrik, pair of armchairs, model 'Ella', teak, fabric, Denmark, 1960s.

Pair of 'Ella' armchairs designed by Arne Vodder in the sixties. These elegant armchairs are upholstered in warm olive green fabric. The sculptural frame is what makes these Danish chairs so unique. The armrests have an open triangle. The backrest is slightly tilted and has a rotating mechanism in the backrest and therefore provide wonderful comfort.

Arne Vodder (1926-2009) should be named among the most influential Scandinavian midcentury designers, although he is not as well known as for instance Hans Wegner or Arne Jacobson. Once a student to famous furniture designer Finn Juhl, who later became his friend and business partner. Vodder started out as an architect who designed low-cost housing, later on he began designing furniture. Although his designs are anything but low-quality, his aim for functional design that could be used by all remained important. He designed amongst others for Fritz Hansen & Sibast.

Kindly note that the fabric is in fair condition with loose seams and tears. Reupholstery is possible before shipping by our experienced craftspeople in our own in-house restoration atelier. With high attention for the original, they make sure every piece retains its value and is ready for the many years to come. We kindly ask you to contact our design experts for further information about the endless possibilities our restoration and upholstery atelier has to offer. Of course, a locally organized reupholstery is possible as well.
