Sale price£18,250.86

Dining table, walnut, bronze, brass, Italy, 1950s

Hailing from a skilled artisan of Italy, this dining table epitomizes excellence in its form, material use, composition, and craftsmanship. With an unidentified but undoubtedly highly talented maker behind its creation, this dining table stands as a testament to the designer's expertise. The table reflects the design principles of the Mid-Century era that rose to prominence in the late 1940s and 1950s. The aesthetic of the design evokes the stylistic tendencies of Italian masters Silvio Cavatorta, Melchiorre Bega, Ico Parisi, and Guglielmo Ulrich. The bookmatched walnut tabletop, gracefully shaped in a boat-like form, features a meticulously crafted wooden inlay which forms the boarder of the top. However, it is the base that truly captivates the viewer. Exquisite in its execution, the base features beautifully carved tapered feet, converging in the middle to form a composition of sharp, diagonal lines. Cross-shaped stretchers in bronze are positioned between the legs and finished with circular brass connections. All in all, this Italian design is defined by precise scaling and harmonious interplay of various structural elements executed in the finest materials. This is a very special find.
