Marc Newson (1963-), is an Australian-American designer recognized as one of the foremost and influential figures in the late 20th century and the initial decades of the 21st century. Born in Sydney, Newson embarked on extensive journeys through Europe and Asia from a young age. His portfolio spans a diverse array of disciplines, and he embraces an impressive client list featuring some of the world's most renowned and prestigious brands. His expertise extends to crafting furniture, household products, luxury goods, and interior designs, showcasing a mastery that extends across fields such as technology, innovative material usage, aviation, marine, and automotive design. Persistently erasing the boundaries separating art and design, Marc Newson has intricately integrated functionality into his creations. Noteworthy is his ability to seamlessly incorporate technology and explore unconventional materials, setting his work apart. Newson's distinctive approach reflects a keen understanding of contemporary aesthetics while paying homage to the rich history of both modern and postmodern design that precedes his innovative contributions.

With his creative mind and groundbreaking visions, Belgian fashion designer Walter van Beirendonck (1957-) commissioned industrial designer Marc Newson (1963-) to conceive a retail concept for his W.&L.T. brand (Wild & Lethal Trash), which could be experienced through his multiple shops located across Europe. This whimsical chair was part of the Kiss the Future collection, which was mainly characterized by its modular display system. Comprising transportable pieces of furniture, these units served multifunctional purposes, seamlessly transforming into in-store shops, pop-ups, and exhibition stands. Marc created a range of vibrant plastic display modules in various colors, including red, yellow, blue, green, black, and white. Their versatility shines through in their practical use. The modular system elements were arranged to showcase and highlight the featured items. When closing time arrived, these pieces seamlessly rolled together, forming a closed box to cover the interiors of the compartments. In addition, Marc Newson crafted tables and chairs that were design in the same aesthetic sensibility as the display units.

The chairs were designed with functionality in mind and aimed to fully utilize the technical capabilities of the material used in its production. These chairs were crafted through the rotation molding process, utilizing polypropylene as the foundational material. Therefore, the furniture has obtained a durable and impact resistant character and the creation of hollow forms with large proportions without the need for additional assembly was possible.

The piece is signed with 'W.&.L.T. shop concept designed by Marc Newson W.&.L.T. Kiss the Future'.
