This classic sofa was designed and produced by master cabinet maker Frits Henningsen around the 1930s. The basic design is well-balanced, showing an interesting contrast between the straight lines of the solid mahogany frame and the almost theatrical curves of the armrests. Frits Henningsen (1889-1965) was a cabinet maker. Relatively little has been written about this talented designer and maker. He had his own shop in Copenhagen. His main concerns were the users of his furniture and the solid quality of his work. All his works are by his own workshop.
