William Andrus for Steelcase Living Room Set in Fiberglass and Leather
William C. Andrus for Steelcase, pair of lounge chairs, coffee table, lacquered fiberglass, plexiglass, leather, United States, 1970s
Lovely space age living room set designed by William C. Andrus for Steelcase in the 1970s. This design truly resembles the ethos of the seventies, featuring the commonly used material of that time named fiberglass and plexiglass in combination with black leather upholstery. The body rests on a transparent lucite base which creates the illusion that the pieces are floating. This piece of furniture was part of the '465' series for the Soft Seating program in 1972. William C. Andrus created this particular appearance not only with modern materials, but also the sheer form with its round edges and the floating base makes this sofa and lounge chair a design statement.
Dimensions of the coffee table: H 55 x W 76 x D 76 cm.
Dimensions of the lounge chairs: H 62 x W 104 x D 90 cm. Seat Height: 49 cm.
