Tommaso Barbi, rhubarb leaf floor lamp, brass, Italy, 1970s

This floor lamp is designed by Tommaso Barbi and produced in Italy in the 1970s. The biomorphic, hand-hammered brass lamp resembles one leaf on a thin stem that floats over into the ring shaped base. The extravagant style and amazing craftsmanship is characteristic for Tommaso Barbi's work. The lamp is very sculptural and the realism of the leaf shows the exquisite craftsmanship of Barbi. The leaf beautifully frames the light and therefore, provide a superb light partition due to the hammered brass surface of the leaves.
