Sophisticated Brutalist Sideboard in Marble and Black Lacquered Oak
Sideboard or credenza, oak, Belgium, 1970s
This modern and beautiful looking sideboard is made in Belgium in the 1970s. The front features a clear rhythm and flow established by means of a well thought through lay out that is utterly well-balanced. The carved geometrical shapes on the door panels immediately catch the eye and are the signature for this item; a design that is established during the seventies when Brutalism was at his highest level. The design convinces visually through its remarkable repetitive, sharp wave pattern and the stabile construction. The cherry on top is the bright marble detailing across the lower part and sides of the cabinet. In a beautiful white and grey mix, the marble slabs create a beautiful combination with the darkened wood. This piece with its mix of materials would be a great aesthetic and practical fit in a home or office space.
