Silas Seandel, 'Volcano' side tables, glass, brass, steel, United States, 1974

Brutalist 'Volcano' tables by American sculptor Silas Seandel. Both side tables consist of nine amorphic rings of alternating textured brass and matte finished stainless steel. Each ring has a vertical support, creating a distance between each ring. The organic shapes of the base are welded together in a form reminiscent of an hourglass. Seandel’s skills as a sculptor is clearly visible in his use of welding metals. Signed by the artist.
