Set of Twelve 'Nikke' Dining Chairs by Tapio Wirkkala Finland 1950s
Tapio Wirkkala, set of twelve dining chairs, black lacquered plywood and metal, Finland, 1950s.
Beautiful set of 'Nikke' chairs design by the Finnish designer Tapio Wirkkala. This model is a wonderful example of early minimalist design. The chair consists of a black lacquered plywood seat, organically shaped. The frame features nickel-plated tubular steel legs that are slim and straight. Any possibly decorative elements has been omitted, leaving a functional, well designed piece of furniture.
Please note we have a larger amount of these chairs in our collection, which makes this a ideal set for a project. For instance for decorating a restaurant or a conference room.
Please note that the chairs differ in condition from very good to signs of wear and use, mainly at the seat. Some chairs are missing some lacquer on the edges.
