Set of Ten Italian Dining Chairs in Brown and Olive Green Upholstery
Set of ten dining chairs, beech, fabric, velvet, Italy, 1960s
These dining chairs of Italian origin have a strong resemblance to Augusto Savini’s 'Pamplona' chair (1965) and Afra & Tobia Scarpa's 'Pigreco' chair (1959-1960), yet this design is different in its details. Strong vertical and horizontal lines create a strong, architectural expression. The back of the seat is supported by a wooden frame consisting of two parallel placed wooden slats, which is further connected to the front legs. An additional slat is adjusted in between front and back legs to stabilize the construction, but also to add another strong line. Brown fabric and olive green velvet is used to upholster the whole seat, which perfectly matches the beech wood.
