Set of Six Dining Chairs in Mahogany and Red Fabric Upholstery
Set of six armchairs, in mahogany and fabric, attributed to Sarah Lipska, France, 1930s.
Set of six cubic dining chairs in mahogany with red fabric upholstery. These chairs have a clear design of straight lines. No diagonals or curves, just squares and rectangles. An open and more light appearance is created by the openings in the legs, back and armrests.
These chairs have nice proportions and show great craftsmanship. The mahogany shows strong traces of age and use, which creates a stunning patina. The red fabric upholstery shows some fading and tears. Reupholstery is advised. This is possible in any kind of leather or fabric of your choice. Please ask for more information and the many possibilities by our experienced in-house atelier. The chairs have a beautiful Classic, almost medieval appearance and would fit very well in a Classic or Victorian space.
Sarah Lipska was a Polish born painter, fashion designer and decorator in Paris. She was one of the few women active in the early 20th century European Avant Garde. She exhibited her work on the 1925 Exposition internationale des arts de´coratifs et industriels modernes in Paris.
