Lounge chairs, oak, canvas, metal, the Netherlands, 1950s
Beautiful pair of adjustable lounge chairs. The frame features a striking contrast between the two round front legs and the rest of the frame that is characterized by straight lines and angles. Multiple details like the tapered shape of the armrests or the pointy ends of the backrest, add strength to the design. Special feature is the mechanism to adjust the backrest. To adjust the backrest in its angle, a thin metal bar needs to be lifted. This smart technical detail adds a modern touch to the design. Also the off-white canvas webbing on the seat and backrest seems to be too beautiful to hide it with cushions.
