Runar Engblom, pair of armchairs, ivory white ultrasuede upholstery, elm, Finland, 1950s Rare pair of armchairs designed by Runar Engblom in 1951. The chairs have a distinct appearance with their curved shape and soft and organic angles. They are upholstered in a smooth ivory white ultrasuede with a buttoned backrest and a loose seating cushion. The tapered legs in elm wood are slightly curved and lacquered, lifting the bulky seat from the ground. Runar Engblom designed these rare armchairs for the Vaakuna Hotel in Helsinki in 1951, just before the opening of the Olympic Games in 1952.
