Richard Lecompte, cabinet with secretaire, knotted wood or 'bird’s-eye' elm, beech, steel, France, 1970s.
This special and wonderfully crafted sideboard is designed by Richard Lecompte and made in France in the 1970s. The work of this artist clearly has a lot of similarities with the designs of Alexandre Noll. With clear Brutalist characteristics, this sideboard comes across as raw and organic. A versatile piece of furniture as the interior houses a spacious compartment and a secretary desk. The design is executed in a special material named ‘bird’s-eye elm’ consisting of a striking pattern resembling small, swirling eyes that disrupt the smooth lines of grains. The drawing in the wood is captivating and makes this cabinet a unique piece in your interior.
