Neil Morris for H. Morris, lounge chairs, red upholstery, birch plywood, Scotland, 1940s
These rare chairs, designed by Neil Morris for H. Morris, are sculptural, elegant and feature various curves, both in the seat and in the armrests. The frame is made out of birch plywood, making these a very early example of the material in Scotland. Note the details of the velvet upholstery being attached to the sides of the frame and head, making sure that it is perfectly detailed and finished. These chairs, thanks to their theatrical frame and perfect finish, are quite unique in their appearance.
The purple red striped velvet upholstery is in very good condition and has most likely been recently upholstered.
