Jordi Vilanova I Bosch, cabinet, walnut, birch, brass, glass, Spain, 1960s
With its exquisite form, masterful use of materials, harmonious composition, and meticulous craftsmanship, the exceptional cabinet crafted by Jordi Vilanova I Bosch is a testament to the artist's skilled hand and refined aesthetic sensibility. The piece is executed with exacting precision, featuring an arrangement of geometric shapes and carefully calculated proportions that comprise its elegant design. Notably, a grid-like framework comprised of sharp angular lines encloses the cabinet's corpus, which then extends downward to form the graceful legs that deftly counterbalance the cabinet's weighty form. Upon accessing the interior of the cabinet via its six doors, one discovers a sophisticated storage arrangement consisting of drawers, glass shelves, brass cupholders and containers. In all, this rare cabinet exemplifies the artist's exceptional talent and remarkable ability to create furniture that transcend time and place.
