Jan Vlug, console, wengé and mahogany, Belgium, 1970s

Rare and exclusive console table with characteristic graphical base and stunning tabletop. The top is executed with the end-grain of wengé in rectangular fragments. End-grain cut is particularly strong and shows a very refined patterned grain. This technique was mainly used by Jan Vlug's close friend Jules Wabbes. The base is made of lacquered mahogany wood. It consists of two elements, build up from three legs that are connected with wooden slats at different heights. The legs are positioned in a triangle, which creates a beautiful visual effect. This repeated rhythm of the legs is a trademark of Belgian designer Jan Vlug.
