Sale price$18,400.00

Antti Nurmesniemi for Palace Hotel, Helsinki, lounge chair, leatherette, fabric, lacquered birch, Finland, 1952

In 1952, the distinguished Finnish designer Antti Nurmesniemi conceived this chair exclusively for the Palace Hotel, situated in the city of Helsinki. Simultaneously with the Helsinki Olympics, the Palace Hotel commenced its operations. The building is designed by the accomplished architects Viljo Revell and Keijo Petäjä. The interior is decorated by Antti Nurmesniemi and other notable designers. The chair bears an unconventional form. The shell seat is positioned on a wooden cross-shaped framework. The use of a minimalist color palette, consisting solely of black and white colors, serves to enhance the chair's modern and streamlined appearance.

Kindly take note that the fabric is in good, used condition with signs of age and use, including stains, a tear, and overall wear. Reupholstery or restoration is possible before shipping by our experienced craftspeople in our own in-house restoration atelier. With high attention for the original, they make sure every piece retains its value and is ready for the many years to come. We kindly ask you to contact our design experts for further information about the endless possibilities our restoration and upholstery atelier has to offer. Of course, a locally organized reupholstery or restoration is possible as well.
